The President of Uzbekistan advocates for further expansion of the strategic partnership with the ADB

On November 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan received a delegation of the Asian Development Bank headed by its president Masato Kanda.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of the ADB congratulated the leader of our country on the 30th anniversary of the strategic partnership and the transition to Uzbekistan's chairmanship of the Bank's Board of Governors in 2025-2026.

Issues of further expansion of full-scale cooperation in the context of the implementation of the program of socio-economic reforms in our country were discussed.

The highest level of cooperation achieved was noted with satisfaction. Uzbekistan remains the Bank's largest partner in the region, with a portfolio of joint projects exceeding $15 billion. Additionally, projects worth more than $3 billion are being developed in the areas of green energy, transport, digital transformation, education, and other areas. Non-sovereign financing mechanisms are being actively implemented.

Particular attention has been paid to preparations for the annual meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in May 2026 in Samarkand.

The President of Uzbekistan advocated signing an Enhanced Strategic Partnership Program with the ADB during the upcoming event, paying particular attention to infrastructure development, training technical and engineering personnel, educating women and young people in new professions, reducing poverty, and developing the mortgage market and private sector.

The importance of the Bank's active participation in supporting major national and regional initiatives, as well as promoting transport, energy, and trade projects in the Central Asian region, was emphasized.

ADB President Masato Kanda highly appreciated the results of large-scale reforms in the country and expressed his readiness to fully support the implementation of the program of irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan.
