In accordance with the Resolutions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan PR-459 dated December 28, 2022 “On measures for the implementation of the Investment Programme of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2023 — 2025” and PR-51 dated February 11, 2025 “On additional measures to improve the mechanisms for preparing and implementing projects with the participation of international financial institutions and foreign government financial organizations”, the investment projects “Construction of the 127 km long 500 kV Sarimai (Khorezm region) - Djankeldy (Bukhara region) high-voltage power transmission line” and “The conversion of the Sarimai substation into a 500 kV substation” are being implemented by JSC “National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan”.

These projects are being implemented by the JSC NEGU with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and serve to modernize the country's energy infrastructure, increase its efficiency, and ensure the sustainability of energy supply.

This project is being implemented to provide external electricity to 500 MW wind power plants, as well as to develop renewable energy sources and reduce the use of natural gas.
